Dr. Margaretha Platzer - Veterinarian

${name}

Dr. Margaretha (Marcy) Platzer is a native of Coral Springs, Florida where she was involved in her family restaurant, Old Vienna (Austrian/German cuisine).

She has always been drawn to animals and is naturally curious and became motivated by the medical field and its never-ending evolution of discoveries. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Florida State University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from St. George University with clinical year studies at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. While at FSU, she volunteered at St. Francis Wildlife Center and the Tallahassee Animal Shelter and interned with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in the Animal Industry Division.

During veterinary school, she completed an externship at Broward Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital in Deerfield Beach, Florida with Dr. Susan Kelleher (who has a show on Nat Geo Wild called Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER). Dr. Platzer joined the Safe Habor Animal Hospital family after graduating from veterinary school. She has a special interest in exotic medicine and soft tissue surgery.

At home, she has Nala, a Siamese kitty, Poppy a "Pothound" that she rescued while living in Grenada, Sam the African Grey, Amara a Pensacola rescue pup, four chickens (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter) as well as a bunch of fish. She loves being a veterinarian because, she says, "No one day is ever the same, I'm always learning and able to teach or educate, and the extended family we receive from our clients and coworkers".

We know that sometimes with pets, the unexpected happens. That's why, in addition to well pet visits, we also provide same-day urgent care/sick patient visits. Call us to verify availability today!
